Review Mirror

Ok it's not funny but It's my blog after all. Looking back, I will say a few words about several albums which were released this year. I will start with one that is no good according to me.
Did you see this film entitled "Dig"? Yeah. So you know the Dandy Warhols.
Some of their albums were quite good in their style. The last one, Odditorium of the Warlords of Mars, was good. So was Thirteen tales... It had a special thing that kept the songs together, although it could have some boring parts.
The new one could be defined as a patchwork. Too multidirectional to convince me. Some funk, some psychedelia, some velvet underground thing... Some songs are really good to hear, (good production, good guitar work...), others are so different from the rest that it fails to amuse me.
When Prince jams with Lou Reed it's no good, (I think).
Some might say, that this record is an attempt to move forward, others will see it as an attempt to please everyone.
Me, I am just a little disappointed!
I found their "friends'", (we don't really know), album, the brian jonestown massacre "My bloody underground", (though it was criticized by many) much more creative.

Blind blind blind euh! part 2

...Once the crowd...euh...the band shows up, (they are 7 on stage), it is a rather abrasive flow of beauty and rage that pierces my ears. It's true that the last album, Thirteen blues for thirteen moons is filled with much more distorted guitar riffs. As usual Efrim pushes the boundaries of the record a little further once the band is live, since we hear songs composed for the next album, (not yet recorded I think). The passion is palpable. The guitar player is literally spitting the words out. The Silver mt Zion is pure energy combined with melodies and beauty.
The female part of the band produces gorgeous vocals as well as violin sounds from who knows where.
The whirring bass and the precise drums are the last ingredients of this alchemy.
Efrim makes one or two statements about The Police and the fact that they always write the same kind of song. I am not completely de accuerdo, here.
Sometimes I am just slightly dissapointed because the atmosphere lacks some of the peaceful and scary parts they wrote for their debut albums but one as the right to change and sacrifice some features of his identity to move toward something new, right?
Anyway I'll remember nothing but pleasure, here, and I think that few can create such a rapture today.
As their ancestors, (Pink Floyd/ Yes 70s/ Genesis 70s) Silver Mt zion are, as they said it at the time of GYBE, "clumsy kids tryin' to build cathedrals".

Your humble servant, (I hate "The Servants").

Blind Blind Blind part 1

Well, ((you can notice my inevitable love for brackets)and Im using the same words as my australian civilization teacher: WELL!), since I am quite a disorganized bloke I will not start with the beginning.

Lyon Vaise Grnnd Zero 18th of April: A silver Mt Zion tralala....somethin'.

It's good mentionning that this band is the physical continuity of the famous canadian post rock band Godspeed you black emperor, (you can hear 'em in 28 days later "east hastings"), (another pair of brackets just because, (again), I love it)
Thee silver tatata...is different in the sense that there are lyrics and singin' parts.
My favourite album, though, is "He Has left us alone as...". It is intense, sometimes scary, dark, as GYBE was. Albums after albums their sound became less dark but remained very interesting. Efrim, (guitar, voice, and brain of the band), writes lyrics which can be defined as anarchist. Good, why not, let's make a revolution.!!!!! Revolutionary, yes, but not stupid. Sometimes you hear Efrim's voice, (unique and strange voice which can be repulsing at first), and you start thinking.
For me this simple fact is a good point.

So, Grnnd Zero in april is as usual a total lack of organization...Anyway we love them for that...(no booking, good, always late, bad and good, no transport it's too late, bad, no velov it's too crappy, not their fault, you can be so close to the artists on stage, very good). No Im serious its good to know that there are some places like Grnnd Zero.

Ok, we come early, we wait, and... I wanna sit down as usual, (Im not eighty but I always enjoy a gig when my arse touches a chair, a stone or anything you can sit on). Then...who is this guy with the dark grey raincoat and the hippie hair cut and beard. Oh fuck it's him, Efrim is here! Too shy I simply stare and wait for the music to start like a good dog. Then Berg sans Nipple comes on stage with a whole pack of strange machines. This band is good but it tends to remind me too much of Animal collective another strange band. Nevermind, an hour later their turn is over. Their electronic wave passes leaving behind an impression of pleasant,(No Irony here), Déjà vu. Indeed we have already seen such musical landscapes.....()

Remember when I was young

First of all, I really must apologize for writing in English, (indeed I am a true froggy so sorry for the huge number...hum hum...of readers who can't understand) but I feel more comfortable with this language.
I will start this Blog sayin' that I will go back in time to remind myself
of this summer that is gone so fast, (since I am of the 1hourof"wherethefuckaremyspecs"whentheyareonmynose type).
I will mainly
deal with my musical experiences.

Ps: I am no junkie with mystical
experiences...Maybe I was...or was it just that I was a kind of teenager with ferocious hormones
fighting inside...whatever!
